Clutter (2017) for Flute and Bass Clarinet by Roydon Tse

A composition inspired by Sedgwick Studio

Music by Roydon Tse

Nick Mula – clarinet

Gaby Vargas – flute

Below the CTA Brown Line's Sedgwick stop sits a 1901 Commonwealth Edison electrical substation built to serve the train. After removal of the transformers converting AC to DC in the early 1960s, the building sat vacant for more than a decade. Luckily, several artists saw potential in its high ceilings and spacious interior. They purchased the property in 1976 and converted it to studio space. Today, Sedgwick Studios is buzzing with energy as a live/work space for six artists: John Adduci, John E. Bannon, Sunny Han, Seaton Scarff, Ted Sitting Crow Garner and Michael Young. Inside, there's sculpture fabrication, public exhibitions and even a neon lab. (From the Open House Chicago website)
